This project provides matching crocheted hearts and a letter from one grieving parent to another for care packages that are given to grieving parents and caregivers in the hospital following the death of a child.
When we left the hospital after Lydia died, we were not sent home with anything, not even a pamphlet on grief or information on where to find support. The goal of this project is to work with hospitals on strengthening the support that they can provide to families during such a tragic, lonely, and confusing time while also offering love and empathy from someone who has also experienced the most unthinkable loss.
Please contact us if you would like to include your hospital in The Love From Lydia Project.
Partnering with Love From Lydia is completely free for hospitals and support programs thanks to the donations that we receive.

The shock of Lydia's unexpected death caused me to feel like my life was spinning completely out of control. During this time, one of the few things that I could do to keep myself as grounded as possible was to crochet little white hearts.
Lydia was buried holding a little white heart in her hand. Even at a time when I felt I had no control, it brought me a small bit of comfort knowing that Lydia was holding a matching one. Since then, I have made hundreds of white hearts, giving them to friends and family, including mailing them all around the country (15 states and counting) and placing them around the community for people to find. It was my way of keeping Lydia's memory alive and having hope that, wherever she is, she can feel the love and strength of anyone who holds a matching heart.
Because Lydia's achingly short life didn't allow her the opportunity to truly make her mark on the world, I am determined to help her get there, doing so through encouraging acts of kindness and support to others.
Love,
Danielle (Lydia's Mom)
Each heart is $3 (shipping included)
